An individual's last two teeth, which commonly show up in the early adult years, are referred to as wisdom teeth. Situated in the rear areas of both arches, wisdom teeth, which are additionally known as third molars, commonly lack adequate room to completely emerge, are difficult to keep clean, and can require extraction to maintain overall oral wellness. Wisdom teeth might be impacted (stuck beneath the gum tissues or bone), poorly aligned, or not able to develop as they should, resulting in many dental disorders. Dr. Husam Elias provides third molar removals for Pasadena, CA patients to enhance oral health and defend against jaw pain and deterioration. If you or a member of your family have painful or ingrown wisdom teeth, schedule an appointment at The Pacific Coast Center for Oral, Facial & Cosmetic Surgery to learn about your personalized options.

Usually, wisdom teeth extractions are recommended for patients who are 17 – 25 years old. I happen to think it’s important to give people their flowers while they can enjoy them in life. My experience in the procedure room at Pacific Coast Ctr. started out questionable. Had it not been for Diane I’m sure I would have walked out having had a completely different experience. While being prepped for the tooth extraction the IV guy was having trouble finding a vein to use. So, one of the females in the room said try something that did not work. So now we are two or three sticks in with no results. In walks Diane; she asked are they having trouble and I say yes.At that point she took charge. The other two were trying to explain why they were having difficulty when she went into automatic mode. She began to tell them what she was going to do and how she was going to do it. They listened and followed her instructions as she established the IV line. I don’t know if it was her confidence, experience, or the way she moved in the room maybe all three things together. In todays age of YouTube, TikTok, etc. where everyone wants a lot of money for doing a little work. I find it refreshing to see someone that it good at their job, takes pride in it, and does it because it’s the right thing to do. It’s not always the big things that matter it can be something small that has a lingering impression. I know about this being in the emergency medical profession. If I arrive on scene of a drive by shooting where someone’s body has multiple bullet wounds and that person looks up at me scared and I tell them I will get them to the hospital alive; I see a calm come over them as I go to work. Diane possesses the same quality, it’s a rare quality in this atmosphere she is a jewel, treat her well, she’ll be hard to replace. If I ever have to return to Pacific Coast Ctr. For treatment let her know the Starbucks is on me. Lol… 🚒💨

My 82-year-old father with multiple high risk medical issues was confidently referred to Dr Elias by my long time family friend and dentist for extensive dental infections. At the very first visit to the office, Dr Elias used the latest high-tech CT scan to diagnose the problem. With great ethical and clinical analysis of the entire situation and all the relevant medical ramifications involved in this complex case, Dr Elias realized the severity of the problem and expedited my father's 14 teeth extractions immediately. Despite his busy schedule that day, Dr Elias perform the surgery stat within that same hour - in the Surgi-Center. After 1 hour under IV sedation all 14 teeth were extracted without any complications and my father recovered well... as a physician myself.. I am truly grateful for the high-standard and compassionate medical care my father received that day by Dr Elias and his staff. I would highly recommend anybody with serious dental or oral issues to get care from Dr Elias as a surgeon....Gratefully Dr KP

The Pacific Coast Center for Oral, Facial & Cosmetic Surgery carries out third molar removals while the individual is under local anesthesia, but this surgery may also be paired with oral-conscious or IV sedation techniques to improve comfort. Most cases of wisdom teeth removal call for an excision approach, most notably if the teeth are impacted, have arched roots, or are firmly attached to the bone. When Dr. Elias makes an opening in the gum tissues to get to the tooth, he may section it into parts, which allows for more effective removal. Depending on your personal needs, each of the wisdom teeth could be removed during the same session. Stitches could be placed to close off the extraction sites and promote the recovery period. Our incredibly experienced team will supply you with post-treatment instructions to adhere to during the next several days.

Patients who require further types of sedation to stay comfortable during their session will need to bring a responsible friend to take them home. During the initial several days after the procedure, it's crucial to restrict spitting, sipping using a straw, choosing hot or cold foods and drinks, and to stop smoking and vaping. These activities will likely pull out the blood clot at the removal location and cause an issue called "dry socket." It is expected to notice jaw swelling and pain following third molar extractions, which can be lessened with prescription or drugstore pain relievers and cold compresses held to the face. Our dental professionals will provide you with instructions to allow you to take care of your gums while you heal and arrange a follow-up visit to monitor your surgical sites as they heal.

Whether you need your wisdom teeth removed or you need an emergency extraction after a trauma or injury, please contact The Pacific Coast Center for Oral, Facial & Cosmetic Surgery to learn more about your options. We can help you with simple or surgical extractions to improve your health.
