Chin enhancement surgery (or genioplasty) is a cosmetic procedure that improves the look of the jawline and chin for patients with a recessive chin or one they feel is overbearing. When a chin lacks shape and size, it can create a weak profile. A weak chin can have an impact on other areas of the face and give the appearance of a disproportionately large nose or maxilla. Several aesthetic enhancements can be performed to highlight your chin, and one of the most common procedures is inserting an implant to reconstruct a more prominent jawline and a more appealing profile. Dr. Elias offers many cosmetic improvements to consider for your chin enhancement. In addition to implants, which come in various sizes and shapes, noninvasive augmentations, such as fillers, can help add contour. For prominent chins, a reduction genioplasty might be an option. This reconstructive surgery at The Pacific Coast Center for Oral, Facial & Cosmetic Surgery in Pasadena, CA removes bone and cartilage to reshape your chin and jaw for a more balanced look.

During this procedure, general anesthesia or IV sedation will be used. The incision is carefully made just under your chin or inside the mouth at the gumline. In this incision, a pocket is surgically made to keep the implant device in its proper place. The chin implant is placed through the incision and positioned on top of the bone at the border of the jawline. Regardless, both help to conceal scars. Thin sutures are used to connect and close the incisions, and your chin will be wrapped with bandages.

Love my new look! :) - Facelift, eyelids, fat grafting, laser resurfacing, chin implant.I met Dr. Elias 5 months ago for a consultation for my face, I suffered from acne scars all my life, also I didn’t like the bags under my eyes and the loose skin on my face and neck; from the moment I met him, I knew he is the one who will be my surgeon, he is calm, honest, down to earth, explained everything in details of what I needed to achieve the results I’m looking for; needless to say I booked my surgery same day; recovery and the results are better than what I expected. I am so pleased with my new jawline, my refreshed look, I feel and look younger.I can’t say enough about Dr. Elias, knowledge, skills, passion for his work and delivered results. Go see him if you need any cosmetic work, you won’t regret it.

Strenuous activity should be avoided within this recovery window. This particular surgery has very high success rates, and by having it under the hands of a trained surgeon like Dr. Elias, your new chin should appear natural and proportionate.

About Us
Will augmentation fix my double chin?

Surgical chin augmentation is designed to give you a sharper, stronger look to your jawline. If you want to correct a double chin, you may be a better candidate for neck liposuction to have the fat in your upper neck below the jawline (the submental area) removed. Sometimes this technique on its own can create a better jawline and appearance without a chin implant. Dr. Elias will go over your choices and his suggestions in your first appointment.

Can I combine other facial surgeries with chin augmentation?

Yes, you can. Some people combine a chin implant with another facial surgery, such as cheek augmentation or rhinoplasty. Dr. Elias will help you decide which procedures best fit your concerns and goals during your initial consultation. It might be difficult to decide on your own what procedure(s) will be the most beneficial, which is why your consultation with Dr. Elias is important. He will use his years of experience to help you create your custom plan.

What is the difference between mentoplasty and genioplasty?

Mentoplasty is a procedure that builds shape to your chin. Genioplasty, on the other hand, is a procedure to reconstruct the chin bone. Depending on the state of your chin plus your goals, you might need both procedures or just one. A genioplasty, in addition to being a cosmetic procedure, may also be performed to improve your dental bite or another medical concern. Dr. Elias will help you decide whether to get a mentoplasty, genioplasty, or both.
