Am I A Good Candidate?
Dental implants by All-on-4 may be utilized to substitute the upper and/or lower dental arches with dental implants attached to dentures made custom for you. You might be an good candidate for All-on-4 implant dentures if you prefer the advantages of implant-supported dentures over traditional, removable dentures, including few or no dietary limitations, no messy glues, and no special cleaning. You will need to have good bone and gum density to get implants, as the screws rely upon your gums and bone to maintain them in place. If needed, gum and/or bone grafts might be performed before the implants can be placed. What is the All-on-4 Dental Implant Procedure?
Implants by All-on-4 may be used to substitute the lower and/or upper dental arches together with dental implants attached to dentures made custom for you. You will need to have good gum and bone density to get implants since the screws will rely on your gums and bone to keep them in place. If necessary, gum and/or bone grafts might be performed before the implants can be placed. Dr. Elias can determine if this process is appropriate for you during your consultation and can help discuss all your choices.
First, we will take digital scans and x-rays of your teeth. Dr. Elias will develop your unique treatment plan and go over your choices for sedation throughout the process. During your first appointment, the dental implants will be set in your mouth. Dr. Elias will place a temporary denture over the dental implants while your mouth heals and your dentures are made. After several months, you should come back to get your custom dentures attached and possibly adjusted for a more comfortable fit.
You might feel some pain and discomfort in your gums after implant surgery. While you are using temporary dentures, there will be some dietary limitations and cleaning directions to follow. You'll also visit for regular follow-ups throughout the recovery period so Dr. Elias can assess your progress and make sure the implants are healing into your bone socket and gums as they should be. As soon as your custom dentures have been placed, you should clean them just like normal teeth with daily brushing and flossing. You should continue to visit The Pacific Coast Center for Oral, Facial & Cosmetic Surgery for annual exams and biannual professional cleanings to maintain your dentures and so Dr. Elias can track the health of your mouth.

Does getting All-on-4 dental implants hurt?
No, most patients do not find the All-on-4 dental implant process painful. Dr. Elias pairs powerful local anesthetics to completely numb the treatment area with several sedation options to ensure you're comfortable throughout the entire procedure. During recovery, you may experience mild soreness and discomfort as your gums heal, but ice packs and over-the-counter pain relievers are typically enough to keep you comfortable. If pain is a concern, please talk to Dr. Elias during your consultation so he can create the right treatment plan for you.
How long does it take to get All-on-4 dental implants?
The process to get All-on-4 dental implants is a two-step process that takes about 4 – 6 months. During your first appointment, Dr. Elias takes digital scans and x-rays of your teeth and then installs the anchoring implants. While your gums heal over the next 4 – 6 months, you will wear a temporary denture. In the second visit, your permanent denture will be affixed to the implants and you'll have a strong, beautiful new set of teeth.
Can anyone get All-on-4 dental implants?
While people with lower jawbone density often require bone grafts to be eligible for traditional dental implants, All-on-4 implants use an innovative angled implant placing. This placement allows more patients to be eligible for this restorative procedure, often without a bone grafting procedure. However, some patients with a history of poor oral health, periodontitis, or certain health conditions may not be candidates. During your consultation, Dr. Elias will review your medical history and use diagnostic imaging to ensure that you're a great All-on-4 candidate.
