Dr. W. Frederick Stephens is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon. He is well known in the Pasadena community as a leader in his field with many years of experience serving patients throughout the San Gabriel Valley, San Fernando Valley, and Los Angeles County.
In 1989, after practicing in Dallas, Texas for 4 years following the completion of his training, Dr. Stephens and his wife relocated to Southern California and established The Pacific Coast Center for Oral & Facial Surgery, opening offices initially in South Pasadena but later expanding into the adjacent cities of Arcadia and La Canada-Flintridge.
After building a successful multi-office surgical practice and establishing his reputation in these locations, Dr. Stephens relocated his practice more centrally to a single facility in Pasadena, CA in 1999. Here, he re-established The Pacific Coast Center for Oral & Facial Surgery with the addition of the Pasadena Ambulatory Surgery Center, a fully accredited ambulatory surgery center.
In 2018, Dr. Husam Elias joined The Pacific Coast Center for Oral & Facial Surgery including the Pasadena Ambulatory Surgery Center by purchasing the facilities and adding it to his already successful, Southern California Center for Surgical Arts, located in Sherman Oaks, CA. This represented a major evolution of our practices, with Dr. Elias adding his artistry and expertise in the areas of facial and full-body cosmetic surgery. Now, along with a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery and dental implant services, we offer an even broader scope of care to our patients at the now renamed Pacific Coast Center for Oral, Facial & Cosmetic Surgery and the Pasadena Ambulatory Surgery Center, LLC.
Dr. Stephens continues to actively practice oral and maxillofacial surgery in the Pasadena facility, with an emphasis on dental implant reconstruction, dentoalveolar surgery (including wisdom tooth removal), and maxillofacial pathology. He still provides the same high-quality caring and compassionate surgical care he is known for, but now enjoys a bit more more time to spend with his wife and pursue other interests.
A native of Idaho, Dr. Stephens was raised in a farming community and later relocated to Seattle, WA with his family before attended high school. He attended the University of Washington and obtained an undergraduate degree in Zoology. He then was accepted to the University of Washington School of Dentistry, graduating with honors. Following his doctoral training, Dr. Stephens was accepted to one of the premier Oral and Maxillofacial surgery training programs in the country, the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Parkland Memorial Hospital, Dallas, TX, and affiliated hospitals. Here he completed both his anesthesia internship and surgical residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Stephens began his private practice career in the Dallas area but later relocated to Southern California.

Dr. Stephens is by far the most patient, knowledgeable and experienced oral surgeons I've ever met. He spent time explaining his approach, surgery process and follow up plan to us for almost an hour. We felt very confident to be taken care of by him.
