Husam Elias MD DMD FACS is a diplomate of the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (ABCS), American Board of facial cosmetic surgery (ABFCS), American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS) and Fellow of the American college of surgeons ( FACS).
Dr. Elias, an accomplished surgeon, who held the position of section head of Maxillofacial surgery at the internationally renowned Cleveland Clinic Head and Neck Institute and served as medical staff member for the NBA Cleveland Cavaliers. He also held a position as staff surgeon at the Head and Neck /Maxillofacial surgery department at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical center, two of America's top hospitals.
Dr. Elias was born and raised in Sudan, East Africa, where he completed his undergraduate degree graduating the top of his class at University of Khartoum, moved to the US following his dream of becoming a surgeon. He received his medical degree (MD) from the prestigious Case Western Reserve University and dental degree (DMD) from Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of dental medicine graduating with honors.
Dr. Elias completed an internship in General surgery, residency in Maxillofacial surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and University Hospitals of Cleveland/ Rainbow Babies and Children hospital. He completed a general cosmetic surgery fellowships accredited by the American Academy of Cosmetic surgery at Inland Cosmetic Surgery Medical Center directed by Dr. Jacob Haiavy.
With background in both reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, Dr. Elias has developed a unique practice that encompasses a wide range of cosmetic and maxillofacial surgeries. He is an expert in facial contouring, facial rejuvenation, rhinoplasty and corrective jaw surgery. He developed a new technique for management of chonic TMJ disease using stem cells.
Dr. Vakilian is a Board Certified, double degree Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and focuses his practice on minimally invasive techniques, prioritizing providing excellent outcome, with less pain, less swelling and less healing time.
He is a native of San Diego, CA. He completed his dental training at the esteemed Harvard School of Dental Medicine, graduating at the top of his class with honors and multiple publications. He served as the president of Harvard Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Society for four years.
He then went on to complete his medical degree at the University of Southwestern Medical Center, a top-ranked medical school in the country. He remained in Dallas to complete a much sought-after training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the esteemed Parkland program, known for their exceptional training in anesthesia, dental implant surgery, corrective jaw surgery (Orthognathic surgery), simple and complex pathology, minimally invasive TMJ surgery, complex trauma, and dentoalveolar surgery. He served as chief resident at multiple level 1 trauma hospitals and was elected to the executive board of Resident Organization of American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Following graduation, Dr. Vakilian and his wife brought their two young boys back home to Southern California. He is an avid sports fan. Outside of work he enjoys watching sports, traveling, exploring new restaurants, and spending time outdoors with his wife and two sons, Leon and Ryan.
